Methacrylated Sodium Alginate (AlgMA)
Description
Sodium alginate (Alg) is a natural polysaccharide extracted from brown algae, composed of randomly arranged β‑D‑mannuronic acid (M) and α‑L‑guluronic acid (G) units. It can rapidly chelate with divalent cations such as calcium or zinc under mild conditions to form hydrogels, and is widely used in drug delivery, tissue‑engineering scaffolds, and cell microencapsulation.
Our AlgMA is a photosensitive, methacrylated derivative of sodium alginate in which methacryloyl groups are introduced along the polymer chain. This modification preserves the material’s excellent ion‑responsive gelation behavior while adding photocrosslinking capability. In the presence of a photoinitiator, AlgMA can be rapidly cured into hydrogels with mechanical strength and structural stability significantly superior to those of traditional ionically crosslinked alginate gels, greatly expanding its potential in biomedical and engineering applications.
Product Advantages
- High Batch Stability: Standardized manufacturing processes ensure consistent product performance and strong experimental reproducibility.
- High Purity with Low Residuals: Specialized purification techniques effectively remove small‑molecule residues such as methacrylic acid.
- Multiple Specifications Available: Options include different viscosity grades and endotoxin levels to meet both research and development needs.
- Reliable Quality and Storage Stability: When stored under recommended conditions, the product maintains long‑term performance stability.
