  • What Is Synthetic Biology?

    In a broad sense, synthetic biology refers to the genetic design and transformation of cells or living organisms through the construction of biological functional elements, devices, and systems, so that they can have biological functions to meet human needs, and even create new biological systems.
     
    Compared with chemical engineering, synthetic biology uses renewable biological resources to replace non-renewable fossil resources and uses green and clean biological manufacturing processes to replace high energy consumption and high pollution petrochemical and coal chemical processes, so that it can get rid of dependence on non-renewable resources such as oil and coal, solve the high energy consumption and high pollution problems in chemical engineering, make the production process safer, green and environmentally friendly, and can significantly reduce production costs.
