Description

In recent years, there has been an urgent need for a reagent kit capable of effectively extracting small RNAs of approximately 15-30 nucleotides in size, including siRNA and miRNA, due to extensive research on RNA interference and regulatory small RNAs. However, traditional RNA extraction methods such as silica membranes fail to effectively adsorb and recover these molecules. Phenol/chloroform extraction and isopropanol or ethanol precipitation are also ineffective in precipitating and recovering small RNA molecules. This is particularly challenging for serum and plasma samples due to their inherent characteristics.

This reagent kit utilizes a unique lysis solution to rapidly and directly lyse RNAases in serum and plasma, followed by strong organic extraction to remove proteins and DNA. RNA, including small RNA molecules, is then adsorbed onto a special silica membrane within the centrifuge column under high concentrations of ethanol. Subsequently, through a series of rapid wash and centrifugation steps using special wash solutions, cellular metabolites, proteins, and other impurities are further removed. Finally, low-salt elution buffer is used to elute pure RNA from the silica membrane.
