Description

BioPreserve™ DNA Stabilization Reagent for Animal Tissue (abbreviated as BioPreserve™ Reagent or BioPreserve™), also known as DNA Sample Preservation Solution, DNA Tissue Sample Room-Temperature Preservation Solution, or DNA Stabilization Reagent, is a non-toxic and harmless liquid reagent used during the collection of animal tissue. With simple room-temperature handling, it can rapidly inhibit DNase and stably preserve DNA in tissue samples. This product is widely used for the stabilization and preservation of DNA in fresh animal tissue or cell samples.

This product has a wide range of applications. It can be used for DNA stabilization and preservation in various animal tissue samples such as liver, brain, lung, spleen, kidney, heart, muscle, and bone tissue. It can also be used for the preservation of cultured cells, fungi, bacteria, and certain plant samples.

The effect of this product is basically equivalent to that of liquid nitrogen cryopreservation. It can rapidly penetrate into tissue, completely inhibit DNase, prevent DNA degradation, and maintain the integrity of tissue DNA, thereby perfectly preserving the gene expression profile of the tissue. Like liquid nitrogen, it can also preserve DNA in samples for the long term.

This product is safe and convenient. It is non-toxic and non-irritating, and can be used at room temperature, ensuring safety and convenience during use. Compared with liquid nitrogen, it effectively avoids safety hazards such as frostbite or centrifuge tube rupture caused by ultra-low temperatures, and it is very easy to carry and transport.

This product is suitable for the stabilization and preservation of DNA in ordinary fresh tissue or cell samples, and is especially suitable for situations where DNA extraction cannot be performed immediately after sample collection. It is particularly applicable to samples collected in the field or in clinical settings, large-scale animal tissue samples, and samples that cannot be frozen immediately.

The preservation time of samples in this product is related to storage temperature. For example, at 37ºC samples can be stably preserved for at least 7 days, at 4ºC for more than 1 month, and at -20ºC or lower temperatures for long-term preservation. Details are shown in the following table:

Storage Temperature37ºC25ºC4ºC-20ºC-80ºC
Preservation Time≥7 days>2 weeks>1 month~3–5 years~5 years

Samples stored at -20ºC or -80ºC with this product can undergo 3–5 freeze–thaw cycles without significantly affecting DNA quality. In general, it is recommended that samples preserved with this product be transported or stored short-term at room temperature or 4ºC, and long-term at -20ºC or -80ºC. For long-term storage at -20ºC or -80ºC, samples must first be stored at 4ºC overnight or longer before being transferred to lower temperatures.

Tissue samples preserved with this product can be subjected to conventional DNA extraction methods, such as spin column and magnetic bead techniques. During use, simply take the sample out of BioPreserve™ and treat it as an ordinary fresh or frozen sample. A small amount of residual BioPreserve™ reagent will not affect subsequent extraction results.

This product can also be used for the stabilization and preservation of proteins and RNA in tissue. For RNA, the stabilization time is significantly shorter: at 37ºC RNA can be stably preserved for about 1 day, and at room temperature for at least 3–5 days. However, BioPreserve™ causes protein denaturation, so subsequent experiments such as Western blot and SDS-PAGE can be performed, but it is not suitable for assays requiring active enzymes or experiments that depend on maintaining protein activity.

100 ml of this product can be used to preserve approximately 100–200 samples weighing 100 mg each, and 500 ml can be used to preserve approximately 500–1000 samples weighing 100 mg each.

Storage

Store at room temperature or 4ºC. Valid for two years.

Precautions

  • Tissue samples obtained during experiments should be appropriately processed in size and then rapidly and completely immersed in BioPreserve™ reagent.
  • This product is suitable for the stabilization and preservation of DNA in fresh animal tissue samples or cells. The preservation effect of frozen samples subsequently treated with BioPreserve™ is much poorer than that of fresh samples directly preserved with BioPreserve™. Although this product has some stabilizing effect on frozen samples, it is more suitable for fresh samples.
  • After preservation with this product, samples may become slightly firm. This is a normal phenomenon and does not affect subsequent homogenization, lysis, or other operations during DNA extraction.
  • If samples need to be stored long-term at -20ºC or -80ºC, they should first be stored at 4ºC overnight or longer before being transferred to -20ºC or -80ºC. This ensures that BioPreserve™ reagent fully and effectively penetrates the tissue.
  • When samples stored at -20ºC or -80ºC are thawed, crystallization may occur in the BioPreserve™ reagent. This is a normal phenomenon. The reagent can be used once the crystals are completely dissolved, and this will not affect subsequent DNA extraction.
  • For blood leukocyte samples, after separation by conventional methods, preservation can be carried out following the same procedure as for cell samples.
  • For plant sample preservation, surface wax should be removed to ensure that BioPreserve™ reagent can fully penetrate into the tissue.
  • This product is intended for use only by professionals in scientific research. It must not be used for clinical diagnosis or treatment, must not be used in food or pharmaceuticals, and must not be stored in ordinary residential housing.
  • For your safety and health, please wear a lab coat and disposable gloves when handling.
