Description
BioPreserve™ DNA/RNA Stabilization Reagent for Virus (abbreviated as BioPreserve™ Reagent or simply BioPreserve™), also known as DNA/RNA Sample Preservation Solution, DNA/RNA Virus Sample Room-Temperature Preservation Solution, or DNA/RNA Stabilization Reagent, is a non-toxic and harmless liquid reagent used during virus collection. With simple room-temperature handling, it can rapidly inhibit DNase/RNase and stably preserve DNA/RNA in virus samples. This product is an inactivating virus stabilization solution, widely used for the stabilization and preservation of DNA/RNA in fresh virus samples.
This product has a wide range of applications. It can be used for DNA/RNA stabilization and preservation in various virus samples, such as plasma, serum, cell-free body fluids, swabs, and cell culture supernatants.
The effect of this product is basically equivalent to that of liquid nitrogen cryopreservation. It can rapidly penetrate into cells, completely inhibit DNase/RNase, prevent DNA/RNA degradation, and maintain the integrity of DNA/RNA in virus samples, thereby perfectly preserving the gene expression profile of the sample. Like liquid nitrogen, it can also preserve DNA/RNA in samples for the long term.
This product is safe and convenient. It is non-toxic and non-irritating, and can be used at room temperature, ensuring safety and convenience during use. Compared with liquid nitrogen, it effectively avoids safety hazards such as frostbite or centrifuge tube rupture caused by ultra-low temperatures, and it is very easy to carry and transport.
This product is suitable for the stabilization and preservation of DNA/RNA in ordinary fresh virus samples, and is especially suitable for situations where DNA/RNA extraction cannot be performed immediately after sample collection. It is particularly applicable to samples collected in the field or in clinical settings, large-scale virus sample collection, and samples that cannot be frozen immediately.
The preservation time of samples in this product is related to storage temperature, and differs slightly between DNA and RNA. For DNA, samples can be stably preserved for at least 7 days at 37ºC, more than 1 month at 4ºC, and long-term at -20ºC or lower temperatures. For RNA, the preservation time is significantly shorter: at 37ºC RNA can be stably preserved for about 1 day, and at room temperature for at least 3–5 days. Details are shown in the following table:
| Storage Temperature | 37ºC | 25ºC | 4ºC | -20ºC | -80ºC |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DNA Preservation | ≥7 days | >2 weeks | >1 month | ~3–5 years | ~5 years |
| RNA Preservation | 1–2 days | ~1 week | ~1 month | ~3–5 years | ~5 years |
Samples stored at -20ºC or -80ºC with this product can undergo 3–5 freeze–thaw cycles without significantly affecting DNA/RNA quality. In general, it is recommended that samples preserved with this product be transported or stored short-term at room temperature or 4ºC, and long-term at -20ºC or -80ºC.
Virus samples preserved with this product can be subjected to conventional DNA/RNA extraction methods, such as spin column, Trizol, and magnetic bead techniques. During use, simply take 100 µl of liquid sample directly as the material for DNA/RNA extraction. A small amount of residual BioPreserve™ reagent will not affect subsequent extraction results.
Virus samples preserved with this product are inactivated and cannot be used for virus culture or isolation.
Storage
Store at room temperature or 4ºC. Valid for two years.
Precautions
- Specimen collection personnel must follow relevant protective requirements. Subsequent operations should be carried out in a certified Class II biosafety cabinet, in compliance with Biosafety Level 2 or higher standards.
- Virus samples obtained during experiments should be promptly added to BioPreserve™ reagent.
- This product is suitable for the stabilization and preservation of DNA/RNA in fresh virus samples or cells. The preservation effect of frozen samples subsequently treated with BioPreserve™ is much poorer than that of fresh samples directly preserved with BioPreserve™. Although this product has some stabilizing effect on frozen samples, it is more suitable for fresh samples.
- When samples stored at -20ºC or -80ºC are thawed, crystallization may occur in the BioPreserve™ reagent. This is a normal phenomenon. The reagent can be used once the crystals are completely dissolved, and this will not affect subsequent DNA/RNA extraction.
- This product is intended for use only by professionals in scientific research. It must not be used for clinical diagnosis or treatment, must not be used in food or pharmaceuticals, and must not be stored in ordinary residential housing.
