Description
DNA-Free HS-Taq DNA Polymerase is a HotStart Taq DNA Polymerase, activated by heating at 95°C for 5 minutes or 98°C for 2 minutes. Taq DNA Polymerase is a thermostable DNA polymerase derived from the thermophilic bacterium Thermus aquaticus, recombinantly expressed in E. coli, with a molecular weight of 94 kDa. This enzyme has been specially modified to have superior amplification capability and extension speed, capable of amplifying fragments up to 5-6 kb with an extension speed of 2-3 kb/min (72°C). It possesses 5’→3’ polymerase activity and weak 5’→3’ exonuclease activity, but lacks 3’→5’ exonuclease activity. The amplification products have 3’-dA overhangs.
Our DNA-Free HS-Taq DNA Polymerase, on the other hand, is devoid of genomic and plasmid DNA from the production strain. This makes DNA-free HS-Taq DNA Polymerase particularly suitable for amplifying, sequencing, and cloning 16S and 23S rDNA genes, as well as for standard applications like PCR and primer extension.
