Cat. No.: SDSG-1k (for 1000g)
Description
Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) is an organic compound that is soluble in water. It possesses degreasing, emulsifying, and excellent foaming properties and can be used for protein denaturation. It is a long-chain hydrocarbon group with negatively charged sulfate, making it a natural amphoteric surfactant. In DNA extraction processes, it helps separate proteins from DNA after denaturation and is commonly used in biochemical and immunological assays.
Conventional SDS is in powder form with small particle sizes, making it unable to be effectively filtered by regular dust masks. It can easily adhere to mucous membranes, the upper respiratory tract, eyes, and skin, causing irritation and potentially triggering allergic reactions in the respiratory system. However, the manufacturing process has been optimized to produce SDS as dust-free granules, which significantly reduces the potential harm to the human body caused by the powder.
