Description

Interleukin-3 (IL-3) is a cytokine encoded by the IL-3 gene on chromosome 5.

It is primarily produced by activated T cells, as well as human thymic epithelial cells, activated murine mast cells, keratinocytes, and neurons/astrocytes.

IL-3 plays a key role in hematopoiesis by regulating the production, differentiation, and function of granulocytes and monocyte-macrophage lineages.

Human IL-3 is a monomeric, non-glycosylated polypeptide consisting of 133 amino acid residues.

Due to low sequence homology, human IL-3 does not exhibit activity on murine cells.

Reconstitution

Briefly centrifuge the vial before opening. Reconstitute in sterile distilled water or aqueous buffer containing 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1–1.0 mg/mL. Stock solutions should be aliquoted and stored at ≤ –20 °C. Further dilutions should be made in appropriate buffered solutions.

Storage Conditions

Store lyophilized powder at 4 °C for long-term stability. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles after reconstitution.
