Description

Polydatin (also known as Piceid), extracted from the roots of Polygonum cuspidatum Sieb, a commonly used traditional Chinese remedy, exhibits anti-inflammatory activity in various experimental models. Additionally, Polydatin inhibits G6PD and induces oxidative and ER stresses.

Inflammation

In Vitro Study

Polydatin shields cerebral cells from ischemic damage by enhancing microcirculation and thwarting platelet aggregation. Moreover, it hampers ICAM-1 expression in endothelial cells induced by lipopolysaccharide, and mitigates adhesion between white blood cells and endothelial cells. Polydatin also curtails cancer cell proliferation and disrupts cell cycle progression. Additionally, it induces cell death driven by ER stress.

In Vivo Study

Polydatin significantly boosts the activity of SOD and heart rate, mitigates myocardial pathological damage, reduces MDA content, slightly elevates arterial pressure and GSH-Px activity, diminishes intervals of QRS, QT, and ST, and lowers FFA content.

Storage

Store at -20°C for at least one year. The solid powder is stable at 4°C for at least one month. If dissolved in a non-DMSO solvent, it is recommended to aliquot and store at -80°C for up to six months.
