Description
The gel mobility shift assay, also known as gel retardation or electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA), is a technique used to study protein-nucleic acid interactions. Originally designed to validate interactions between transcription factors and promoters, EMSA can also be applied to research protein-DNA interactions. This assay allows for the investigation of the binding between target proteins and specific DNA sequences, thereby enabling the study of the activation levels of certain transcription factors within cells.
This kit contains a binding buffer (10×) with effective components such as poly(dI-dC). The concentration of poly(dI-dC) is optimized to effectively eliminate non-specific binding between proteins and labeled probes, while not reducing the specific binding between the target transcription factors and labeled probes.
The kit provides all necessary reagents for conducting EMSA experiments, except for the probe, making the EMSA process simple and convenient.

Note
You will need to provide 0.1% SDS, biotin-labeled EMSA probes, non-biotin-labeled EMSA probes, and corresponding non-biotin-labeled mutant probes. Additionally, you will need to provide 0.5×TBE for pre-electrophoresis, electrophoresis, and transfer.
For super-shift assays, you will need to supply the antibody required for the super-shift.
This kit is packaged with 5 wells per gel plate and is available in quantities sufficient for 10 gel plates or 20 gel plates.
