Possessing DNA glycosylase activity, this enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of N-glycosidic bonds to release uracil and uracil derivatives from single-stranded or double-stranded DNA, thereby generating apyrimidinic (AP) sites.

Recombinant E. coli RecA Protein
Recombinant E. coli RecA Protein, also abbreviated as E. coli RecA, is an endogenous enzyme of Escherichia coli that plays a central role in DNA damage repair and genetic recombination during UV-induced mutagenesis. RecA expression is induced by the SOS response triggered by DNA lesions. Possessing single-stranded DNA-dependent ATPase activity, RecA mediates the formation of D-loops and Holliday junctions during homologous recombination. It also functions as a co-protease to stimulate autocleavage of the LexA repressor, bacteriophage λ repressor, and UmuD protein. The eukaryotic homologs of RecA are Rad51 and Dmc1. E. coli RecA Protein is widely applied in Recombinase Polymerase Amplification (RPA).
