Description
The Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) is a highly pathogenic coronavirus that was first identified in Saudi Arabia in September 2012. This virus is capable of infecting not only humans but also various animals, causing a wide range of illnesses from the common cold to severe acute respiratory syndrome. MERS-CoV is a zoonotic virus, with dromedary camels likely serving as the intermediate host. The virus primarily spreads through aerosols and close contact. Infection can occur through direct or indirect exposure to infected dromedary camels.
Patients infected with MERS-CoV may develop severe respiratory illnesses, presenting symptoms such as fever, coughing, and difficulty breathing. In many cases, the condition may progress to acute kidney failure, and even death. Due to the significant health risks posed by MERS-CoV, rapid and accurate identification of the virus is crucial.
To address this need, our company has developed a simple and efficient MERS-CoV RT-LAMP detection kit based on our proprietary dual-dye RT-LAMP technology. Its features include:
- Ready-to-use design requiring only viral RNA samples.
- Isothermal amplification, eliminating the need for expensive instruments such as fluorescence PCR machines.
- Contains visible and fluorescent dyes, enabling results to be evaluated visually with a metal or water bath or through real-time fluorescent PCR detection.
- Sensitivity exceeding RT-PCR by more than tenfold, with a detection limit of approximately 100 copies per reaction.
- High specificity, with four specific primers designed for the conserved RNA sequences of MERS-CoV, ensuring no cross-reactivity with other RNA.
- Rapid results, generally available within 30 minutes—much faster than RT-PCR.
- Inclusion of non-infectious positive controls to facilitate result analysis.
- Designed solely for qualitative analysis, not recommended for quantitative analysis.
- High sample loading capacity, with a maximum sample volume of up to 13 μL in a 20 μL reaction system.
- Incorporation of dUTP-UNG to prevent cross-contamination.
- Sufficient for 50 uses in a 20 μL system for dye-based fluorescence and visual RT-LAMP amplification.
