Description

Type XVII collagen (COL17) is a transmembrane protein found in the epidermal basal layer, crucial for maintaining tight connections between the epidermis and dermis. It promotes epidermal turnover and stabilizes the basement membrane, thereby supporting anti-aging and repair processes from the basement membrane zone. Evidence suggests that the hydrolysis of COL17 can cause follicular miniaturization, ultimately leading to hair loss. Due to its unique physiological functions, COL17 shows promising potential in delaying and treating hair loss.
