Description
Insulin is a dual-chain polypeptide hormone secreted by pancreatic β-cells. The α-chain and β-chain are connected by two interchain disulfide bonds, with the α-chain also containing an intrachain disulfide bond. Insulin can bind to the insulin receptor, activating downstream signaling pathways, including phosphorylation of the insulin receptor, IRS-1, Akt, and GSK3β. This promotes cellular uptake, utilization, and storage of glucose, amino acids, and fatty acids while inhibiting the breakdown of glycogen, protein, or fat.
This product is recombinant human insulin produced using highly efficient expression in Escherichia coli (E.coli). It undergoes a series of processes such as fermentation, refolding, purification, crystallization, and vacuum drying to prepare high-purity recombinant human insulin in compliance with current Chinese Pharmacopoeia and European Pharmacopoeia standards. The CAS number for human insulin is 11061-68-0, with a molecular formula of C257H383N65O77S6 and a molecular weight of 5807.69. Recombinant human insulin can be used for culturing cells of mammals such as mice and rats, as well as for direct injection in mice or rats for related experimental research.
This product is a white or off-white crystalline powder with a biological activity of 24 IU/mg, purity >99%, endotoxin level <5 EU/mg, solubility ≥2mg/ml (pH 2.0-2.5), and moisture content ≤10% upon drying.
This product is almost insoluble in water, ethanol, and ether but readily dissolves in dilute hydrochloric acid or dilute sodium hydroxide solutions.
It is relatively stable in acidic solutions (such as pH 2.0-3.0) but highly susceptible to inactivation in alkaline solutions. Factors that can alter the protein structure, such as strong acids, strong bases, heating, and proteases, can lead to insulin inactivation.
This product does not contain any additional additives, but zinc compounds are used in the production process of recombinant human insulin with a zinc content not exceeding 1%.
Additional Notes
- After preparation into a sterile solution, this product can be stored at 4°C for 3-6 months. Due to the propensity of insulin in the solution to aggregate at -20°C, it is not recommended to freeze the prepared insulin solution.
- This product has not undergone sterile processing. After preparation into a solution, it should be first filtered for sterilization before use in cell culture or animal experiments.
- This product is intended for scientific research purposes by professionals only and is not to be used for clinical diagnosis or treatment. It is not intended for use in food or drugs and should not be stored in a regular residential setting.
- For your safety and health, please wear laboratory attire and disposable gloves when handling.
