Description

Phillyrin, extracted from Forsythia suspensa Vahl (Oleaceae), exhibits antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It also demonstrates potential inductive effects on rat CYP1A2 and CYP2D1 activities, while leaving CYP2C11 and CYP3A1/2 activities unaffected. Additionally, Phillyrin displays anti-influenza A virus activities.

In Vitro Study

Phillyrin (1–5 μM; pretreatment for 1 hour; 24 hours) significantly inhibits high glucose-induced FAS protein expression in HepG2 cells. Additionally, Phillyrin (1–5 μM; pretreatment for 1 hour; 24 hours) suppresses high glucose-induced FAS mRNA expression by inhibiting SREBP-1c activation in human HepG2 hepatocytes.
