Description
Follitropin subunit beta, also known as the follicle-stimulating hormone beta subunit (FSH-B), is a protein encoded by the FSHB gene in humans. The pituitary glycoprotein hormone family, which includes follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, chorionic gonadotropin, and thyroid-stimulating hormone, shares an identical alpha subunit and a hormone-specific beta subunit. Together with luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone plays a crucial role in inducing egg and sperm production.
