D-(+)-Mannose, the C-2 epimer of D-glucose, is used in the formation of glycan structures and glycosylation. In research, D-mannose has been used to evaluate the synthesis of amphiphilic glycopolymer families. It is also used in studies for the early detection of bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome post-lung transplantation.
