Description

Catalase is an enzyme that is widely present in almost all living organisms that come in contact with oxygen, including bacteria, plants, and animals. Its main function is to facilitate the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. Catalase plays a crucial role in safeguarding cells against oxidative damage caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS). Notably, catalase exhibits one of the highest turnover rates among all enzymes, capable of converting approximately 5 million molecules of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen per minute. The product described here possesses the specified enzyme activity and has undergone a brief purification process after being produced in engineered E.coli.
