Anti-V5 Magnetic Beads, also known as Anti-V5 immunomagnetic beads or V5 antibody magnetic beads, are formed by covalently coupling high-quality monoclonal antibodies against V5 with nano-sized amino magnetic beads. They can specifically bind to proteins containing V5 tags in animal or plant cell lysates, serum, ascites fluid, and other samples. Therefore, they are used for immunoprecipitation (IP), co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP), or purification of fusion proteins or protein complexes carrying V5 tags.
V5 tags (V5-tag), Flag tags (Flag-tag), Myc tags (Myc-tag), HA tags (HA-tag), His tags (His-tag), and GST tags (GST-tag) are some of the most common tags found on expression vectors. Fusion expression with these tags allows convenient detection of the target protein and its protein-protein interactions. It also facilitates the purification of the target protein.
The V5 tag is a peptide consisting of 14 amino acids (GKPIPNPLLGLDST) derived from the simian virus 5 (SV5). By genetically fusing the nucleotide sequence of the V5 tag to the 5' or 3' end of the target gene, the target protein can be expressed with the V5 tag. The V5 tag offers the following advantages: it generally does not interact with the target protein and, in most cases, does not affect the function of the target protein. As a protein tag, subsequent detection, localization, and functional analysis of the target gene can be performed using V5 antibodies, Anti-V5 magnetic beads, or other methods. V5 tags have been widely applied in various aspects of protein expression, purification, identification, protein-protein interactions, and functional studies.
