  • What is COVID-19

    COVID-19 is a new respiratory disease, caused by a novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) discovered in December 2019 that has not previously been seen in humans. The virus that causes COVID-19 spreads primarily through respiratory droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks.

    Since the beginning of the outbreak, the global scientific community has united to engage in the fight against COVID-19. At SBS Genetech, we are at the forefront of offering solutions to accelerate the study of COVID-19. Our solutions are based on our three proprietary platforms: Isothermal Amplification Platform, PCR-Related Platform, and RNA-Related Platform.

  • Isothermal Amplification Platform

     
    Isothermal amplification has the advantages of high sensitivity and rapidity of reaction and does not need special equipment compared with other nucleic acid testing techniques. Therefore, isothermal amplification has been considered by many researchers and scientists as a detection method that may be comparable with qPCR technology, especially during the pandemic of COVID-19.
     
    At SBS Genetech, we are at the forefront of offering solutions for isothermal amplification based on our Bst DNA/RNA Polymerase, which is at the core of our world-class platform. Our isothermal amplification platform features higher specificity, better sensitivity, lower false positive rate, and clearer observable results.

    PCR-Related Platform

     
    Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is a method widely used to rapidly make millions to billions of copies of a specific DNA sample, allowing scientists to take a very small sample of DNA and amplify it to a large enough amount to study in detail. This is also one of the fastest and most accurate laboratory methods for detecting, tracking, and studying the COVID-19 virus. There are four main components required for a reaction: DNA template, DNA primers, free nucleotides called dNTPs, and DNA polymerase (e.g. U-Taq DNA Polymerase).
     
    At SBS Genetech, we are at the forefront of offering comprehensive solutions for PCR-Related products based on various key polymerases. One highlight is our PrimeTaq™ Probe One-Step RT-qPCR MasterMix, which contains PrimeTaq™ HS DP DNA/RNA Polymerase. With hot start property and high tolerance to many PCR inhibitors, PrimeTaq™ Probe One-Step RT-qPCR MasterMix allows direct quantification of RNA virus (e.g. SARS-CoV-2) from the crude sample, which greatly saves time and improves the specificity and sensitivity.

    RNA-Related Platform

     
    Research showed that SARS-CoV-2 is a positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus. Ribonucleic acid (RNA), as a key material for genetic information transmission and cell regulation, has already been extensively studied in molecular biology. Like DNA, RNA is assembled in the form of nucleotide chains; but unlike DNA, RNA exists in nature in the form of single-stranded folds rather than paired double strands.
     
    At SBS Genetech, we provide RNasin (RNase inhibitor) and M-MLV reverse transcriptase to provide a complete raw material solution for RNA research. VirusMag™ series is designed for the isolation of viral RNA/DNA or bacterial DNA.
